Spelling mistakes cut website traffic and sales
In a week when the
that the number of counterfeit goods intercepted at Customs nearly doubled between 2009 and 2010, it was interesting to read that at least some consumers are vigilant when making online purchases.
A small research study by an online entrepreneur
suggests that sales may be reduced by 50%
as a direct result of spelling or grammar mistakes on a website, as risk wary customers avoid them for fear the website might be fraudulent. However, as we identified last year, it's unlikely those same consumers read
the website terms of purchase.
We advise website operators to run a spell-check immediately!
