Catch the pigeon or go online?

As we've mentioned previously broadband speeds - or the lack of - are topical. The Government has committed to delivering speeds of 2Mbps to virtually every home in the UK as recommended in the Digital Britain report of 2009, but has extended the timeline by 3 years to 2015. Campaigners for better rural broadband remain unimpressed and in a move to draw attention to the need for improved access to the internet for those in rural areas Tref Davies, a board member of the Internet Service Providers' Association, organised a race between carrier pigeon and broadband to deliver a 5 minute video clip from a Yorkshire farm to an address in Skegness 75 miles away. Having watched the birdie with interest we can reveal that the pigeon won. So much for speedy broadband!
